hi mfk, i have saved up some cash ready to purchase a 7ft x 3ft x 2ft tank but i have a few questions before i purchase it

i plan on using two eheim compact plus 5000 pumps to run the filtration with a 5ft sump.

i also plan to have two triangular weir's - one in each corner.

my question is what size hole's should i have drilled for each inlet and return?

i think theses pumps use a 1" outlet??????????

any help on this would be greatly appreciated thanks!!!

If you plan to run 1" pipe or tube from the pump to the return, then you would want a 1" bulkhead which requires a 1.75" hole in the glass/acrylic.

Size of the holes for the drain would be contigent on how many gallons an hour you plan to push through the sump which will relate back to the output of the pump at the given head you will have.

As a "For Instance", I have a 1" bulkhead drain and I'm running about 550 GPH through the sump for a 75 gallon main tank which equals a 7 turnover/hour rate.
