Hey guys tonight my tank is being drilled ready for sump, I have a question that's needs awnsering, Should I be drilling the side of the bottom? The tank is 6x2x2 (12mm thick glass), my friend (who is drilling for me) has drilled his tank and he has drilled the bottom of his, I have seen some people drilling the sides of there tanks instead though. What's should I do? + any tips on drilling would be greatly appreiated!!! Thanks for any info or tips given

Unless it's acrylic you CANNOT drill the bottom. Location of drain is all up to you and what you want it to do.

Drill it where you need it. Make sure its not tempered glass on the bottom of you drill it. Only way to know is if it says its tempered or you know from the tank maker.

You can look at the glass in good light with polarized sunglasses or new type 3D glasses. Tempered glass will diffuse light differently but only noticeable with polarized lenses.

You can drill either way you like. Just whatever fits your purpose.

As said above, depending on the tank manufacturer, some panels may be temepered. I would double check it before drilling.

I've looked at the tank in 3d glasses I got from the cinema, it just lookes clear? I've read that if it is undrillable it will have lines through it is that currect?

Good news! Everything looks well, Drilled bottom in the end! Well and truly made up, I've been racking my brains about drilling for weeks now and its fineally done! + its no where near as hard as I expected, just take your time + plenty of water is the key I guess (: Cheers for all your help guys!
