drilling tank

Your best bet is contacting the manufacturer or a company that sells perfecto. I was told(don't blame me if it's not true) that if you look at the glass form the end and it has a green tint, it's tempered. If it's clear it's drill-able. I drilled three holes in my tank, get a drill guide, they work great. Especially after your arm gets tired from holding the drill for an hour.

According to Marineland's website, the 220G x High Perfecto tank had NO tempered panels, as of 2009. Maybe a direct call to the mfg. would answer your question regarding your 9 yr old tank.

I've drilled many tanks and only the bottom is ever tempered. Its easy to do. Youtube it for directions. I recommend a drill guide to reduce the chance of scratching.
