So short of taking a piece of acrylic and drilling a bunch of holes in it, what would be my options for a drip plate? I've searched high and low locally for plastic peg board and have had no luck.

Whats the problem with just buying the plexi and drilling a few holes?

It appears that you may be putting more energy and time into this then it deserves.

Save up large pieces of your plastic trash and cut out all the large surfaces and zip tie them together. The sides off cat litter pails or containers comes to mind...

I have used the top of plastic bins and containers (that have a lip) before in the past. This way the water builds up and drips more rather than simply spilling over the sides of a drilled flat sheet...

Yeah, I have a piece of acrylic that I've drilled holes in half of, I was just looking to cut a corner. I'm using it for the time being, I was just looking to cut a corner to save me from more drilling. I do have the problem of it spilling over the side, but not really a big deal. It'll just have to be something I keep an eye out for. Maybe I can find something sooner or later that will work.

I need basically 17"x17" - kind of random, but thats what fits. I found plastic peg board online, but they want $20 a sheet for it.

I bought 1"x1/4" strips to build a rim on my plate. The plexi cost me 4 bucks and the glue cost me 10. LOL

that may be a option.
