Lyndhurst, oh
I'm going to be setting up a drip system for my tank. I have a 330 gallon tank with a 100 gallon sump. I purchased from the filter guyz the carbon drip 40 that the water will go through before going in the tank. My concern with dripping is that especially in the winter it will be dripping very cold water. Is there any need to be concerned with my size set up dripping 40 gpd in the tank without it being heated first? And if it does need to be heated first how do I do that?? Any and all advice is appreciated. Thanks

You're dripping a very small amount of water compared to the volume of water in the tank. It shouldn't affect the temperature of the entire tank.

On the other hand, I live in South Louisiana--it doesn't freeze here. I have citrus trees in my yard. Water outta the tap here is 70 degrees at all times.

I won't be too concerned about the cold water dripping in your tank. Your tank heater might have to work harder to compensate the added cold water. If you really want peace of mind, you can build a heater like this and hook it up inline into your dripping system.:

I use a mixing valve to run warm water with my carbon drip 40 because our water comes out super cold this time of year.
