I have a 75 gal tank that i keep a warmouth, shadow bass, and a spotted bullhead

I am moving and I want to set up a drip system (i am also setting up a RUGF)

I bought an in line charcoal filter from SLOWE's today, (my water company injects chlorine gass)

I also bought a PSI regulater, to reduce the water pressure to 25 psi, and some 1/2 gal per hour drip emitters, and 15' of 1/4" vinyl tubing.

I will tap into a drain line (with a trap) to take care of the over flow.

Questions:

The water filter i have is just Charcoal, should I have gotten a mechanical to go in front of it?, (SLOWE"S had them for $20.00)

Should i plumb the filter before or after the 25 psi regulator?

Is 12 gal per day to much for a 75 gal?

Am i missing anything?

Is there a down side to a constant drip system? (aside from the obvious, the water company screwing with water quality)

thanks, ill post some picts, when i start assembling everything (over the next 2 weeks)

by the way the drip system idea i got from Rallysman

With just a charcoal filter you don't have anything to worry about by connecting it before or after the regulator. Whatever is easiest for you.

I am running 1GPH on my 120. It has been on now for about 1.5 weeks. I have a constant nitrate reading at 10 ppm. I would normally get about 30-40 by weeks end. Just use the .5GPH and do some tests. If you don't like the results, add more.

:iagree:, but with the fish you have listed you might even be able to go with less than 1/2 gph. Check www.rainbird.com for smaller emitters if you need them.

There is 1 downside to a drip system. It'll make you lazy! I have to constantly remind myself to clean filters and gravel vac lol.

with a RUGF and a drip system, i can skate by doing only monthly gravel vacs (i do 2x a week now) w/o compromising my water quality

I go months lol

I wouldnt count on carbon to remove the chlorine from your water. The low rate that your introducing new water into the system probably ensures that a little chlorine shouldnt be a problem in any case...
