alrighty, for the past few days/weeks I have noticed alot of people talking about larger water changes are better and less often, but I know that drip systems are known to keep the water perfect. Question is what about the gravel? With a drip system are you still gravel washing and how often? At the present time I dont have a system to be able to set up the drip, but for more future knowledge and curiosity. Any thoughts?

I do about once a month, but most of the crap my fish produce get kicked up into the overflow.
I dont have much gravel either, so if you have more you would want to do it more often

Debris will still get trapped in the gravel, so you should still siphon the gravel periodicaly

agree! although most of the work goes to my overflow. i noticed when i cleaned my gravel.. i don't get a lot of dirt (1/2 gravel).. almost like sand. where did the waste go to? usually when i had my barebottom tank i could see it clearly and they are just big.:grinno:

The next tank set up at our house will have drip for stable water parameters, and undergravel jets to keep crap out of the substrate. :grinyes:

Thats a good idea, I may do that.
