I am going to set up a new fish room soon. I have a several breeding projects I am going to be working on. The majority of them are plecos but there will be some others going on like pikes. I am trying to decide how to setup up the water changes. A drip would by far be the easiest method vs larger automated water changes. What would be best for breeding setup? I know in the past I use large water changes for triggers.

Drip is for pristine water conditions. It cannot be a substitute for spawning triggers such as temperature drop or sudden change in water chemistry.
You can simply turn off the drop for those tanks with breeders when you get them ready to spawn. Then turn it back on when you have fry inn them.

Charney- you think to much in black and white... this is a grey and do not need to be mutually exclusive... like Harley said the drip will keep your tanks consistently pristine and keep the stress of a major change to the system happening and when you want to trigger you can still do a large change.. Btw thanks for your help yesterday!

probably going to do the drip and then use the reservoir tank for water changes as well

No problem Jay. Hope we get some kind of answer from it!

Also Harley thanks for your input. You are very optimistic that I will have fry!

The fish butcher is what they ought to call you :nilly:

PS I vote drip system. You can't beat the luxury of never doing water changes again.
