In The Jungle
Long story short got 3 baby aros from LFS from a trade-in. This one picked on the other two till they died sadly. Had them all since about 3 inches with sac.

All was going well in grow out 20long, one day i got tired of having a small second tank in my apt (after having 8 tanks and deciding on pone) so I threw him into my 150 wide with the big boys.... Somehow my 22" cat and 12"polys didnt eat it. SWEET for about a month until yesterday....

I was moving things around in the tank and the aro started flipping out and jumping at the side of the tank. Upon some observation today one eye seems to be swollen at he top. Looks like an early sign of drop eye that my 2ft silver got when it jumped out during maintenance a few times...

Ive lost all hoepin keeping silver aros WTF.... any suggestions? Will post pic tonight if i Can catch it... oh and i tried ping pong ball BUT the flow in my tank pushes it to a corner so its kinda useless.

Yes this has been the experience of many a silver arowana owner. Seem head trauma at least triggers the development of DE. Lots of remedies are given though posted positive results have yet to be seen. Good luck with your aro, just give it the best care you can and learn to live with the DE.

when you have silver aro especially DE comes with it free of charge unless you have the mean to make them lives like in their nature :D

I agree with you. My silver is in the same situation. Has slight DE on the left eye. It was spooked somehow and hit the heater hard. Right now I am trying to ease/stop total DE.
Covered the entire tank with background paper, leaving only the very top bare.
Drain water level to 50%.
Feeding floating sticks only.
Changing water every other day.
Keeping objects in the tank to a minimum.
Water temp. 78 degrees.

So far I've only noticed a very slight improvement. I am planning on doing this as long as it takes. Let's see how it turns out.
