Drop Eye = genetics or consequence?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
When you look in the front glass of your tank all you get is a reflection from the side glass you can't see out of them at all the same with the front glass if you look in the side glass all you get is a reflection on the front glass

Then why don't blacks get DE?

I've seen pictures of asian pond breeders with DE.

My 5 yr old RTG lives in a tank with some sand and the rays constantly push the sand back so half the tank is barebottom. He feeds off the bottom a lot. No DE.

I happen to think it's trauma or poor genetics from inbreeding.

There goes Brian's theory! :D

Naw, cause unlike you, the basis of my opinion is not from just one event.

you put 2 men out in the sun all day one will get burnt the other one wont they could be twins and still have the same out come no one knows why and they have the exact same genes

I'm not claiming to know why aros get drop eye just letting other know what has worked for me

20 aros all at different times i must be doing something right so i will continue to keep aros the way i do

I agree with the trauma, and genetics, but not so sure about "poor" genetics.

I recall reading a discussion a year or two ago where they were showing some wild red aros that I believe were collected in Kalimantan, and they too had drop eye. Do you recall reading or seeing that discussion, Gerry?
Might not have been here on MFK, possibly on arofanatics?

BTW - what time does your new fish arrive? :)

Genetics, imho

Could you provide a link to this discussion?

I'd be more than happy to Brian, but first I have to find it. :)
