dropeye in silvers is an ongoing discussion on this forum and we are always trying to find causes, solutions, patterns, etc... to my knowledge there is no pattern...but then i aint got much knowledge?

Mine has a little in the right eye. It's always been there, ever since it was small, which makes me think it's a genetic thing. I have no proof, but it makes more sense than some of the other wild theories out there.

no it dont

in the discussions ive been in (and if you havnt been in them already) that make the least sense next to the diet "theory".

Why don't you think it's genetic? Almost everything is influenced by genes actually, in general terms.

I have been intrigued by all the threads about this, and have come up with my own opinion (probably not original though) I simply have not been reading them all...

Do wild-caught semi-to full adults have drop eye? I'm thinking that this is a *natural* occurrence to help them see what's below them as well as above...

Wild aros or aros raised in large ponds do not develop drop eye. Wild caught silvers getting drop eye is almost certainly caused by captivity and not lineage.

Does EVERY aro get it, eventually? If so, it could very well be genetic (Baldness, which usually occurs later in life, IS genetic.)
