hello
i've got a 10 inch silver that is starting to get drop eye and i was wondering if there is anyway to help that get any better or at least prevent it from getting worse

I've heard several things like floating a ping pong ball, feeding less fatty foods, covering the side of the tank, feeding only floating foods.........but I think its genetic and there is nothing to fix or prevent it. from what I've seen, if you get a captive bred silver....its pretty much going to have drop eye.

The only thing I've heard of solving it is surgery on expensive asain aros.

Dont worry....they are still great fish even with drop eye:)
Mine has drop eye, but still sees everything. It wont go hungry haha

My larger silver has drop eye, still a great fish. I always feed him floating krill an the occasional feeder for exercise. an he got it. No telling if my small one will get it though

If you are feeding it live food that is probably the problem. Becasue feeders have so much fat and can carry a desease I would only feed it live food once or twice a month.

I had a silver that had never seen a feeder, but it still developed it. I'm a firm believer of the genetic theory. It makes more sense to me.

I also beleive its genetic, I cant find any other reasonable explanation as why one would get it if they've never eatin anything but floating food

Dont bother with any cure for drop eye. Nothing has solved the drop eye problem for silvers. I also believe its genetic.

Enjoy your silver. I believe it's still great even with a drop eye :)
