I am trying to find out exactly whats causing it i now there a lot of proposed reasons, sorry i am talking about silvers, i need a bunch of peopple to replie sort of like a survey, because i think it is caused by collisions.

My silver has only got one eye thats dropped (the right), the other eyes fine.
My theory is he just keeps watching his tankmates swimming below out of boredom which has caused it, theres no ornaments or anything that he can run into in my tank.
He eats flotaing pellets (hikari) and every 2nd day he would get Prawns.
I would love to know how to cure this one eye! So if anyone has any tips to help my Aro thatd be great.

i think thers about 1000 threads about this with no solutions. the cause? nobody has a real answer to that, its all speculation.

DROP EYE HAPPENS, plain and simple. it has to be genetics(my own opinion), if it was from being in aquariums black aro's would get it too but they dont.

if that is it (boredom) why do alot of aros that have other aros in with them also have drop eye? Genetics than every aro has to have it? Also did any of your aros get into collisions?, If that happened that may support the idea of silver aros having weaker eye muscles. This can be proven if some one has two different species of aros adn does an dissection of both aros eyes in comparison, is there anyone who is willing, has two dead different aros and can do that?

I tend to side with the genetics/collision theory. Silvers have a unique head shape which could be why they're more prone to it.

I've noticed when i fed my aro less food his one eye dropped a little bit... i think its more of a looking-down-for-food thing... so now i keep him well fed and his eyes havent gotten any worse... IDK.

not everyone can aford it.

Havent seen a black Arowana here in Australia yet.
