I was closing down my pond this year soon as weather warms up in uk . I was in garden and notice my 30 inch chagoi is getting rasied scales which as realy pissed me off as i add her since she was 4 inch . As anybody ever add a fish get over dropsy and if so what and how did u help the fish cheers :(

If all the scales are lifting things are not looking good however if the lifting scales are in just a few areas a cure may be easy. The number one thing to do in either case is to get your water quality at its very best. Next slowly raise the water temperature from winter temps to around 70F.And add 3lb salt per 100 gallons. You may need to supplement this with shots of a gram negitive antibiotic. Get in touch with the local koi club someone will be able to help.

Tetracycline & penicillin are two medications used for this and salt baths help draw the excess fluids out of ther body.

Move it to clean treated/aged water with good filtration (no carbon while using meds of course).

Were there high nitrAtes in it's water?
