Had a fish with dropsy in planted tank, how do I treat the tank. I have quarantined the fish (I know and am treating), but how do I keep the main tank healthy I have been told adding salt or meds will kill all the plants. Or should I not worry about it because I know it isn't a very contagious illness. I am going to do a 50% water change later today anyway (that time of the week).

The things is that dropsy is present in most aquariums... that being said, teat the fish in a quarantine tank because chances are that some stress factor compromised his immune system and caused the bacteria to overwhelm him. Just do your normal weekly water changes.
