I've been trying to find the dry weight of a 150 gallon tank on the web and just can not find a dry weight anywhere?
Can someone tell me.

I'm buying a 150 gallon off craigslists and the guy selling says me and one other guy is enough to move it, he's says it weight only 50-60 pounds. Is that right??

depends on who is doing the lifting....

me and TheFishWrestler moved my old 240 and his 300 just the two of us.

i dont know the weight of a 150, but id guess its closer to a 100lbs than it is 50 lbs.

its difficult to get more than one guy on each end anyway, and probably wont be able to go through doors.

do yourself a favor and wear good gloves

I don't have the exact weight, right now, but it is over 200lbs.

http://alysta.com/books/fishtank.htm

says 338 lbs....
i dont believe it tho, using standard dimensions for a 150, half inch glass, and the average density of glass to be 160 lbs/cubic foot, i calc'd 265 lbs.

also they give the same weight for the 180 which should be more, and the next size down is only 200 lbs.

Id be prepared to move somwhere around 300 lbs, can still be done by 2 guys if you are strong enough.

i'd like to help you, just not as much as i would like to not help you!

The thing that's weird about this tank are the dims. aren't standard 150 dims.
The dims. he gave me are 72"x24"X21" which does equal 150 gallons.
Makes me wonder if an acrylic tank.

It's possible.. Even if it's glass I loaded one in a truck with two people and removed it it by myself with the help of a hand truck. And it was a ooooooold glass 150..

its possible to MOVE yourself + 1, as me and one guy moved my 250 from stand to a hand truck then back to stand after moving guys delivered it. and that has 1/2" GLASS.

going up or down any sort of incline or steps is a whole other ball game.

Yeah me and my brother moved my 150 by ourselves (no dolly) and had to take it down about six stairs into the basement. After taking it all the way around the back of the house, our arms felt like jelly and then we had to take it down stairs. This was in the winter too, so we had to deal with ice. fun

50-60 pounds? Not a chance, unless its acrylic. My 75 probably weighed 200 or so.

Of course, if it feels like 50 to him, then moving shouldn't be a problem.
