.
Not looking to spend more than 6-700.
Also need lenses flashes etc

Let me know what you have! Thanks

hey, i'm looking to get a dslr as well. i've been looking at refurbished ones on ebay, they range from $370-600+ depending on the available lense, warranty or lack of. this might be an option for you. you might want to start targeting specific brands that suit your needs- i'm looking for rebel xti from canon, and i've seen some decent priced for new ones- but body only.

anyways good luck man.

Looking for Nikon...

hi, i think it's good to get an idea of what you are looking for :)

- brand (nikon only? are you willing to accept other brands like canon?)
- what kind of photography are you looking to do? taking pictures of just fish, or are you interested in doing portrait shots or landscape etc? knowing this will help you identify what kind of lens you want
- new or used condition? refurbished?
- what megapixels?

i have a canon digital rebel XT that i've had for around 2.5 years. good condition (9 out of 10) and i have a 50mm 1.8 lens that i use to take portraits. comes with two batteries and charger. i still have the original box and manuals for everything. i also have a lens cleaning kit. if you are interested pm me. i would have to ship to you.

Great site for various cameras and accessories.

This is their used store for Nikon cameras. You can find lenses and other accessories as well there. They offer guarantees on the sued equipment so it's win/win. Very cheap and better than ebay in many cases.
Thanks

-I'd prefer Nikon but am considering all brands
-Fish, specifically very quick, usually difficult to photograph fish.
-Must be in good condition
-I want a higher-end camera like the D80 that is still within my price range

you should probably go visit an aquarium specific photo forum. i know there are some around. there are many experts on there who can advise you on the proper equipment to use.
as a point of reference to you, it's going to cost a lot more than your budget for good equipment. the camera body usually runs at least $500 for the latest versions, and a good lens will set you back around $500 as well. the flash, especially the 'slave' and 'master' set ups i.e. those flash units you mount on top of the tank that are controlled by a remote unit mounted on your camera will cost you i think $300++ :)
photography is all about capturing light. i personally would recommend a better lens and flash unit set up as opposed to an expensive camera body. camera bodies are much more prone to price depreciation as a result of how fast the technology in that area changes. for example, i got my camera body for around $500 around 2.5 years ago. i bet now it's only worth around $350 or something. on the other hand, i got a really good lens for $500 and i sold it one year later for $450. the depreciation does not go down much for good lenses.

all the best in your search.
