Dual FX5's, single return, what size pipe?

Is it possible to have 2 fx5 filters share the same return. Each filter will have their own intakes but will share either a 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" return.

Comments and suggestions much appreciated... I know 1 1/2" can handle over 2000gph, so I am believe I wont have any issues with the return size. I am worried if there is any ill effects mechanically with the canisters.

The pumps are sized to the hoses as well as the single intake/outake. You could be putting stress on the motor and potentially shorten it's life. Having said that I've done the opposite (two intakes into a single FX5) with no I'll effects. It was not an overstocked tank though. I think you're fine IMO

I think 1.5" plumbing is your best bet. More options for plumbing pieces available.
