So he’s the ordeal basically why is a bean animal a herbie + durso when 2 herbies can accommodate for more flow and would be dead silent

my tank is a 600 gallon and I am planning to have 2 15000 lph pumps on it with the head pressure max will be 10000lph each so 20000 lph / 5250 gph max flow rate

return pipes are 3 (2 inch) pvc

1 is a backup
The other 2 is what I am still looking for advice on

thanks in advance

Hey guys Tune in with ur opinion even if u arnt sure as the plumbing will be done tomorrow so I have a couple hours to make up my mind

To rephrase the question basically I am plumbing the tank today it has 3 drain holes one hole will be a backup drain as for the other two why do people go for a Durso + herbie when 2 herbies can move more water and be dead silent

As far as I can tell the only difference is herbie you need a gate valve to adjust it the dorso you have the Vent tube. I use both because my sumps are in the basement And I can make the fine tuning adjustments without going all the way down into my basement. I know you said your returns are 2" but are your drains? I'm pushing about 8000 GPM and two 1-1/2 drains could not keep up. Just out of curiosity what pumps are you using?

As of now I think imma make both the drains herbie style just seems way more fool proof no worries about water to air ratio so it will be 100% silent and would take a higher flow rate

The drains are 2 inch pipes not the returns sorry, I am using two jebao dcp 15000 pumps
O ok yea you will be fine. I just checked and at 3 meters or a little under 10 feet of head( witch is very low) you will only be at 3700gph with both pumps just an FYI don't know if that matters to you.
You will be find with that setup as long as you have enough water above the intake. Also make sure to use a gate vavle it will make tuning so much easier. I have 3 dreams 2 of them have regular butterfly vavles one has the gate valve and it is night and day different. My stand pipes are completely quiet it is the water Going into the C2C overflow that makes all the noise for me
