i need ideas with heat for 4 seperate rubbermaid tubs that will be housing my colonies of dubia expanding the dubia family lol. but i need heat per tub any efficient ideas? i have no knowledge of heat tape but think that snake owners and other reptile owners could shed some light on this topic?:headbang2

ok how big and what type size model etc. i was using an old 10 gallon aqua heating panel on mine but since im expanding. might have to go your route

aight cool ill get a couple. u heard of heat panals or are they the same things

I've never used heat panels before but I am curious about what people think of them. I might use one in my new Ackie enclosure. But I do use ceramic heat emitters for some of my reptiles.

Think of heat panels as a flat equivilent of CHE's, the same pricipal, just in a flat package with a cord instead of a socket, you'd still need a thermostat to regulate it.

For dubias I use UTH and human heat pads, depending on the size of the tub and how much heat I really need.

For me it depends on the season on which to use.

word. wahts more cost effective uth? thanks for the input fellas

UTH is the way to go for a dubia colony. A radiant heat panel would be overkill...they are pricey. Just make sure you put the UTH on a rheostat so it doesn't get too hot and cook your dubia.

Here's a link for the kind I use: http://www.dimmerwarehouse.com/Product_Dimmers.aspx?ID=123
You can usually find them at Home Depot.
