duck lips ?

i was reading a thread and the was talking about a fish having a illness called duck lips , can anybody explain to me what this so called illiness is and how does it effect the fish
 
I am pretty sure that this refers to a bacterial infection, but not too sure.

agreed, it's the beggning stages mouth fungas. there is a picture of it on the back of the milafix bottle.
 
Cornbread, I've read tons of posts where people would tell someone their (usually) Flowerhorn has "duck lips". Although the fish would look normal to me in the picture. I finally had to go look it up but all I found were a bunch more references to forums where people were telling people their FH had duck lips lol! I'm starting to wonder if anyone really knows what it is, or if they just like saying the words :-)
 
Heyitsduy42, so is it a fungas? Bacterial? Is it contagious from fish to fish? It always seems to be FH's I hear about it with. I wonder if it's something like what happened with Dwarf Gourami Disease? And fish are being bred that may or may not show signs.
