My LFS in VA Beach recently got this unusual knifefish in that's labeled as a duckbill knife. $130 for it. It's definitely a Gymnorhamphichthys species.
lol, need more info than that.Death Pony;4052014; said:My LFS in VA Beach recently got this unusual knifefish in that's labeled as a duckbill knife. $130 for it. It's definitely a Gymnorhamphichthys species.
Knew I'd guess it eventually, lol.Death Pony;4054161; said:Yeah, it looked a lot like that! What's their minimum tank size? I'm not getting it, there's no way I could justify or afford spending that much money.

These guys only get to be around 10" at the Max, so a 55-Gallon would be a minimum, IMO.
Great Knife, but I don't blame you for not getting one because of the price, lol. $130 is more than I would pay for a Knife, but I like em cheap, lol.
lol, glad to hear it works out!Death Pony;4055408; said:Perfect size for my future plan! I'm either getting one of these or a centipede knife. It'll take a while before I can do this. Gotta get the gecko a new terrarium and a job before I can set the 55 up for aquatics.

I have never had experience with this species of Knife before, but I have had experience with keeping a Centipede Knife, and I will say, they suck to care for, lol. They will only eat at night, complete darkness, normally only go after Bloodworms, and can get picked on by its tank-mates that are normally community fish. I had mine with Tetras and they ate its tail. Not a very 'gifted' knife, lol, but they lay on their side all day, motion-less. lol, of course it's your choice, but just thought I'd share my experience.![]()
