So I'm growing duckweed like crazy in my 6'x30"x18" tank with a 4' 200w t5 light and I'm thinking about selling off some of the extra since there is a ton. So my question is how would I measure it and is it actually worth anything?

Probably not likely to be able to sell it competitively, but you could maybe do a deal with your lfs?

Find out if it's worth selling on Aquabid, like Convict360 stated offer it to lfs for small amount of money, or store credit. :) Tbh due to the invasive nature of Duckweed most hobbyists don't use it.

It seems people that are getting into aquaponics and raising tilapia could be interested in raising it as a tilapia feed but its not a huge seller and it is restricted in a hand full of states.

if it grows fast its usually not worth anything. as for duckweed I can scoop it out of any pond and all I need is a small piece. why would I buy that? what you could do is turn it into fertilizer for land plants or something

I would pull 3 or 4 net fulls everyday, and feed it to koi and goldfish in the pond, or the vegetarian cichlids that would eat it, pearsei, bocourti, and Etroplus suratensus. In my area if you tried to sell it, LFSs would think you were joking, and laugh you out of the store, most consider it a pest.

Instead of people paying you for your duckweed, you'd be more likely to get paid to remove duckweed from other people's tanks...
Quite honestly, very few people appreciate its function, and once in a tank, it's impossible to get rid of. Most of those who've had it hate it...

Sounds like it is trading at zero on the exchange.

my lfs will give me some for free for my Veja's to eat.. I tried establishing some in my larger tank but they would eat it so fast it would be gone in a few hours .

So what makes it so difficult to remove? Does it leave micro spores or something that I can't ever filter out?
