Hey all,

My 30g planted tank has been completely taken over by duckweed. It covers the surface to the point where I'd guess only half the light actually gets through to my other plants.

Every time I open the tank for a trim I remove a bunch of the stuff, but it's a heavily planted tank and the duckweed always grows back within a week or so.

Is there anything I can do to permanently get rid of it? Like, some kind of a skimmer or something that will remove ALL the duckweed from the top of the tank?

Any suggestions would be welcome. This stuff is annoying!

Thanks!

You can either use a small net and scoop duckweed every day continuing until its all gone or I've had luck with surface agitation (powerheads, larger filter, etc) killing duckweed.

Thanks kindly! I think I'll try putting a very powerful filter in the tank first.

Be aware that if you do that, you're gonna have a lot of dead matter to remove - if it were me I'd manually remove as much as possible before implementing the powerhead ;)
