Is it safe to do this? The undertank heater that I was given with my ball python has worn out on the sticky side and falls off and i have to keep re-tacking it on every morning. I thought I read somewhere about this being a bad idea but looking back on it I'm not so sure. What do you guys suggest?

I don't know if this is the best idea, but it worked for me. My wife had a pac man frog in a 10 gallon tank. I cut a piece of white styrofoam to fit inside the bottom rim of the tank and hollowed out a space for the heater and cord. It helped to insulate the tank and the heater wasn't "glued"to the tank so it was easy for maintenance.

they make specialty duct tape that is heat resistant for repairing heating ducts, I would use that instead of regular.

Isn't it funny that now you have to buy special duct tape for ducts because it has been used for years to rig so many things that it wasn't made for?

If you look in home depot in the duct area ( like dryer tubes and stuff) there is another kind of tape that is like duct tape, but thicker. It is kinda like a sticky foil. That should work great.

i have seen this stuff before. i think that would be PERFECT

Foil Tape, which isn't "specialty duct tape".......However, it would be best to replace the heater and buy something like an Ultratherm which isn't crap, nor sticky......

And wow........Styrofoam and UTHs don't mix at all.......That is a fire hazard waiting to happen.......
