dull/colorless peacocks and haps?

so i was at my lfs and they just got some small peacocks/ob peacocks and some haps but they were gray and from the peacocks and haps that ive seen on here theyre kinda out of color do they get more color as they grow or will they always look like this?

they'll probably gain color as they grow if they are small now or they could just need some time to adjust to their new home, who knows how long they were bagged and in transit from the breeder to the store.

Color is only in the males for the most part, and then only once they are sexually mature.

That is the bad part of buying smaller africans.....it can be almost impossible to sex them. Unlike SA/CA cichlids, the females do not have the color (most of the time).

yeah if they were pretty small could be because of the size they are... but usually the females are dull in color and stay dull in color. If you want some I personally would look into a local breeder you can probably get some stunning fish for a good price.

I've also noticed that water conditions play a big part with color as well their diet. I was having the same problem with some of the fish I have. I added some Aquarium salt ( 1teaspoon per gallon), and started feeding spurlina. The change was amazing in their color.
