Went fishing for carp was hot but saw a dream group of commons none under 25lb the largest went for my bait after they caused me two hours of tension watching them hoover my bait in 4ft of clear water. the one that actually went for my bait could have made 50lb easy and was black compared to the rest but as he tilted over to get my bait he hit his damm head on my float!!!!

then surprise, they did they usual leave to the other end of the lake.

Going again tomorrow dont think i will ever be that lucky again, to see them that is.

When i fish for carp, I use a large bare treble hook.
Snagging FTW!!

not sure what ftw means but i guess you dont like fishing for carp. im originally british so its what ive always done and now im in ontario im like a kid in a candy store and enjoy the fight they give and release them to grow bigger.

obviously i dont like the asian carp and round goby and agree with killing those but the common carp is far to numerous now to get rid of them so we must get used to the idea and enjoy it. Like the american squirrel coming to britian did we want that no, did we want it almost wipe out the red squirrel no but we live with it.

Almost? I think we all have that story.

Of course everyone has an almost story but a agreat man once said, unsure who it was at the moment, its called fishing not catching. those almosts are the reason we keeping going to turn them into catches

FTW - for the win

They actually are fun to catch and put up a good fight. But you can't eat them and they crowd out more desirable game species.

they are edible but it just has to have its system cleaned out b4 you kill it. its now being sold in the uk for immigrants who enjoy it but really to stop them poaching the waterways for them as the uk is all catch and release noone eats what they catch

i know it sounds implausible but for once one of these 'stories' happened to me wish id had my camera

ok there is an update to this story, went fishing today at the spot in the pic attached. Water was up 3" and brown, the wind had been piling into this bay for the last few days so i thought carp obviously. Got there and they were breeding but there were bubble under the tree on the near right. Caught hundreds of bullhead cats from 12" to 4". The guy next me had three lines out with like three hooks on each, he caught nothing got pretty pissed at me. but he was out to take carp home for dinner so i dont care. When he left my float went down, using the lift method by the way, so i struck and thought i got snagged on the bottom. but then it moved so i thought, well you can guess. Then i was splashed by a 'fin' but then i saw its size and thought nessie had come on holiday to toronto. Cutting the next 45mins short i got it to the bank and released it after guessing the weight to be between 40-50lbs. While pulling against it i had a spare fiinger to video it as i knew noone would believe this. Its Shakey and a bit far away but didnt have aspare finger to zoom sorry enjoy.
