dumbest way you've lost a pet

i havent been on this site in forever, so idr if this is an ok place for this thread, but id just like to know if it gets any worse than this

January of this year, my snapping turtles tank needed cleaning, so i had her in a plastic container with water on my dresser, i used a 10gal tank lid to cover it, and something i THOUGHT was heavy enough on top of it

problem is i had my axolotls cover-less tank on the floor right below, as i had already put it there so i could sweep the mess in the corner of the room where i have the snappers actual tank, and it as well, and had it as well

anyone can tell where this is going?



well i had to go out, and i figured......... eh......... ill just finish up when i get back, she wont get out.....

the snapper had gotten out and fell into the axolotls tank, and........

that possibility even didnt occur to me at all, and i lost a pet just like that

id had him for over a year, he was about 6in long, slightly longer than the snappers shell at the time, yet it didnt matter...... =(

do dogs count? some guy had a dog in yellowstone and it jumped in one of the hot springs. oh & my friends dog had mange so he dumped in two bottles of medicine into its bath water and killed it. i think those are dumber.

I lost a beta down the bathroom drain during a wc... Nothing I could do but turn on the water and salute him.....I'm a lot more careful now...

My parents left my rabbit in her cage outside on the hottest day of summer. By the way he was a snow bunny.
Also once I left a batch of triops in a tank to small.

My wife kept nagging bout my Redtail Boa was getting to big so my cousin agreed to house him for me!!!!
Well he came to pick the snake up before he took his kids to Chuckie Cheese!!!!
Stupid left my snake in his car with the windows up in mid July!!!!! SMH!!!!!

That was also the first time I found out a lighter can explode sitting in your glove box!!!!!!!

I lost a Green Terror cichlid when I placed it in a 5g bucket while draining and moving its tank. I purposefully only put about 4 inches of water in a 5g bucket so he *wouldn't* jump out, but he did anyway. I didn't know until I noticed my dog carrying a dried up, dog-hair-covered fish around in his mouth.

I have put a betta in fishbowl in the sun, he was cooked when i found him.

This wasn't particularly dumb, just clumsy, but I set up this pretty cool tank for some small treefrogs. I ended up bringing home a pair of gray treefrog froglets for it. Right after I introduced them to the tank, I opened it to do something in the tank. One of them hopped up onto the rim of the aquarium and right about that time, I was holding the cover up and it slipped....little 1/2" guy didn't stand a chance
