I am planning on getting one in the future. From all of the things that I have read it says recommended cage size is 8' long, 4' wide, and as tall as you care to go. I was wondering if it would be a huge deal if I only went like 3' wide as I really don't think I would be able to get it in my house around the corners and stuff if it was 4'.

You have plenty of time to move up to a larger enclosure. Unless you're getting an adult to begin with.
As they seem to be pretty hard to find as babies - I'm going to take what I can get. I also rather only build one enclosure that will be suitable for its entire life.
