I'm going to need to upgrade my turtle tank for my snapper soon, and am trying to figure out what I'm going to do. I would like to be able to have a viewing window on his next tank, because it's nice to have more interaction with him and it would probably be appreciated from him that he could see more than the walls of a stock tank.

My question is how durable are sealers used in plywood tank builds? I would love to just build a plywood tank for him, but am kinda scared that he would eventually scratch through the sealer.

My other thought was to possibly put something inside of the tank on top of the sealer, like slate tiles, or something tough and durable. I was originally planning on just buying a pallet container, cutting a hole in one side and putting a window in it, but it would be nice to have something a little larger.

I kind of like the tile idea on the outside of the final coat. Good thinking. Gives me some ideas also! If your final coat was some type of gelcoat or something that will adhere to the slate you could just adhere them to the sides with your final coating. Not sure if slate would affect the ph, or if it even matters for snappers.
