Hi guys! Im so excited to get my 55 gal tank back up and running. I took it down 2yrs ago. Just finished filling it up with water. I've always had traditional gravel from the LFS and the hang over the back filter (bio-wheel). I'm looking at adding Geos, Angels, Eatheaters, Kribs, and Plecos. 2 questions for ya:

1. What is the best substrate to use? I have a python syphon for water changes..

2. What other cichlids can I add with this bunch that won't get too big. I like blue peacocks...

I'm open to any suggestions on the set up as well :D

Thank you! :)

I use gravel, but sand is really cool too--I like the gravel better because it tends to stay put and not get sucked up when you are siphoning.

What about Rams??

Can't wait to see it!!!

I have seen some of the electric blue rams in person and they are pretty nice. Seems like they would fit right in with the other fish you want!

I think peacocks prefer a much higher ph water than the other fish you mentioned, although I have never kept them, so I can't say how tolerant they are to lower ph levels.
