Fall River Ma.
so i had 3 ZZ FH... i kept them until they were a year and a half in a 75g tank...The male grew to over 10" the females about 8" one was also a fader...
Anyway i sold them after they spawned a few times...
i kept the fry and raised them in thier parents former tank...right away i noticed some grew fast like their parents...these were sold off as they became overly aggressive...they were also drab colors with bad singl flowerlines or even single flowers w/o a line at all....
about 1/4 the fry were small and didnt grow much at all... i was told to cull them but didnt...they were very shimmery and some had double flowerlines and friendly to te other fish....
today a year after thier hatch date my 2 biggest fry are 4" and 3".... some others are still only about 1"....(the ones i sold are almost 10"...) by this age thier parents were almost full size...
does anyone know why this is?
same tank, same food, same temp, same water changes....for both fry and parents...
could this be a gene for some type of dwarfism? should i try breeding them to refine it?

dwarves for smaller tanks sounds cool... pics! are they showing the color of their age (like their larger siblings) or colors of their size (still stripey, not much color)???

They look good... they are more colorful then their larger siblings...They are not super colorful but not the worst i have seen... i would trade a lil color for a smaller size anyway...
do you think they will breed?

nope def not...normal size eyes and proportions.... just smaller that average...alot smaller.... ill try to get pics....
can fish like this spawn? weather stunted or dwarf?

it'd make a good experiment! I say go ahead with it!

hmm prolly cuz the bigger one take most of the food? so the weaker ones dont grow as fast

it's just nature which is ironic because the flowerhorn is not natural to begin with. some of my fry stayed fry forever it seemed i think it's just the way it is. and for the ones with no flower design i marketed them out as "albino flowerhorns" which did not fly but sounded cool.
