I'm really interested in getting a dwarf Goonch catfish (Bagarius bagarius). I think it's so damn cool that there's actually a scaled-down version of the infamous Goonch catfish-one that's actually suitable for an average aquarist! So, does anyone have any experience with this catfish? If you don't, could you point me to some articles and stuff? Also, what kinds of fish can they be housed with? Thanks in advance for the help!

I was actually just about to ask the same question. I went onto planetcatfish and that was right on the home screen and it just seemed hard to comprehend such an amazing fish being that small. I thought that the bagarius bagarius was large like the bagarius yarrelli.

If anyone comes across a Bagarius Yarrelii let me know. I cant seem to find them anywhere.

Quite hard to differentiate between B.bagarius and B.yarrelli when they are small in size. They have been made out to be very vicious and aggressive but I don't notice this displayed to any fish 3/4 the size of the Bagarius. The species within Bagarius is also in need of revision as many think there are undescribed species within the genus.

Is that a dwarf Goonch, or B. yarelli? Where'd you get it? What do you feed it? Can you just PM me a full care sheet?

Care sheets cost a dollar.
I think it's a Yarelli. I bought it 18 months ago from Wes at Rare fish, a vendor here on MFK. It was 6" then and is 20" now. That's why I think it is a B. yarelli. I feed it African Cichlids, frozen/thawed market shrimp and Tilapia Filets, Masivor pellets. It’s kept in a 210 with no heater. Water temps are around 75 now in the summer and winter I keep the temps in the high 60’s
