I have some dwarf hairgrass and a few other plants (ludwigia, water sprite) growing in a 40 breeder. It's filling in well and forming a nice carpet, however the color isn't that great. The color ranges from pale green to sickly yellow in some spots, not the vibrant bright green I've seen in other people's tanks. Any suggestions on how to improve it? Tank details are as follows:

size: 40br
filtration: 1x AC70
temp: 82
lighting: 4x39W T5HO 8hrs/day
livestock: 11 rummynose tetras, 4 cories, bunch of RCS
substrate: Eco-Complete
water changes: very seldom, maybe 30% every 3-4 weeks.
additives: Flourish Excel 8ml/day, Flourish 4ml/week, Seachem Trace 4ml/week (it's my first planted tank and I'm pretty clueless on fertilizers)

Thanks.

I don't know why they are that color, but I know you have too much lighting. Try running only half the bulbs, or maybe even 1 of them. Could be you aren't dosing enough ferts to keep up with the high lighting.

you running co2? thats A LOT of light. youre also missing the basic macro nutrients, N-P-K. nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium. and im pretty sure the regular "Flourish" and seachem trace are the same thing, trace elements and mineralss

Flourish and Flourish Trace are different, and complementray, products . . . they do share some ingredients, tho . . . per Seachem, Flourish is a "comprehensive" plant supplement, while Trace is primarily minerals

one difference I noted is the Flourish contains Iron, while Trace does not . . .
