Ok i am interested in smaller growing cichlids, that grow know bigger then 8 inches and are very colorful, anything besides rams, and apistos. I am looking for very colorful cichlid that can live in breed in a 40 gal breeder or 55 gal tank

I would recommend Thorichthys maculipinnis (ellioti) if you can find them. They are sometimes called Elliot's cichlids or golden firemouths. They are in the same genus as the common firemouth, but much more colorful. They normally max out around 6". I really miss my pair.

Port acaras, Copora nicaraguense or Geophagus steindachneri.

yeah i like the whole Thorichthys , i was thing about some Thorichthys pasiones from rapps

yea cody ellotia are nice we have 1 or 2 thoricthys aurem at the shop
other wise nanoleutus, honduran redpoint, myrnae, ellotie , sajica, cutteri etc

look under and fish under the "apistolgramma". grows no more then 3'' i think.

I've got a pair of Chiclasoma (Australoheros?) oblongus that are rapidly becoming my favorite fish. If you can find a pair of those, I'd recommend them.

I also like the other Thorichthys. I also had a blue aureum pair with my Elliot's. I also like pasiones although I've never kept them. Some other small cichlids I like are blue rams and some of the Rift Lake dwarfs like brichardi and some of the smaller shell dwellers
