Hey Guys,

I got 3 dwarf puffers yesterday and I was just wondering how long it'll take before they eat, as well if there was any way to get them to eat. I currently have them in a 10G planted and will be putting them in my 20G once it's fully cycled.

There's a number of ghost shrimp in the bottom (some people told me they'd eat them...). I tried blood worms this morning but they didn't seem interested.

Thanks.

Ours love to eat live brine shrimp. We give them freeze dried bloodworms occasionally and throw small snails in for them to hunt. They are currently in a 29 community planted tank loving life. I'm actually not sure if they ever eat any of the flakes that get thrown in for the other tropicals or not.

Brine shrimp have almost no nutrition--they are 98% water. Blood/blackworms are the best food for them.

I've only tried once with blood worms. I'm assuming its just because they were recently introduced...

Its just because I've always had new fish eat almost immediately. How long can they go without eating?

Live bloodworms? Those may be a bit large, usually it's blackworms most LFS sell. Be sure to rinse them well. Use a cone worm feeder to keep them out of the substrate.

Frozen is not live & will not work with a cone feeder. Bloodworms may be too large for a DP. Try live blackworms.

^ Are the blood worms in the US really large? coz i used to feed my DP's frozen Hikari Blood Worms that came in what i would describe as a tray with individual cubes and never had a problem with them eating that...

Infact a lot of the shops i see in HK feed their DP's frozen Bloodworms or Live black worms...

I have seen live bloodworms that were pretty large. Maybe the frozen ones are smaller. My DPs only eat the live ones--spoiled lil brats!

^ All good PP... we all know that you love giving your Puffs the absolute best of the best 110% of the time :headbang2
