Are dwarf puffers freshwater? Because last time I had a go with puffers I was sold a gsp as a freshwater fish then eventually had to give it away and I don't want to make the same mistake so I'm trying to educate myself ahead of time. I have an empty 10 gal that I would like to make into a puffer tank. I'm assuming I could only do 1 in that size tank?

2 dps are fine make sure you sex them through dwarfpuffers.com as 2 females will live together will basically only have mild conflicts but two males will fight to death. A male and a female would not be the best condition as there will likely be conflict. They are full fresh water throughout life, not like gsps if you aren't sure about sexing or can only find them as really tiny babies (harder to sex when little) then only 1 may be smart.

They are completely Fresh water, in a 10 you could do a breeding pair, but make darn sure you do not end up with two males. Good advice above.

Thanks for the replies. Il probably just do one because I don't want to deal with fighting. My cichlids do that enough to cover for both tanks

cool good luck they appreciate heavily planted tanks, but don't mind if the plants are real or plastic. When puffers are kept as singletons they tend to become more attached to their owner, the more puffers you add the less they will interact with you. Make sure you have a test kit so you can check water parameters which is really important for puffers cause they can go downhill fast so its best to try and catch stuff as early as possible.
