Could any knowledgeable chap out there list out for me all the different types of dwarf snakeheads and perhaps some specifics such as how big a tank i should keep them in and how do i differentiate each one. There are some snakehead guides in this section but they aren't very specific concerning dwarf snakeheads and they don't cover every one. I'm only requesting because i'm kinda' only in the market for dwarves, the giant ones are just too big for me to keep. So if anyone out there could do me this big favor, i'll be really grateful and others out there could also use it as a reference for dwarf snakeheads.

MANY THANKS! :nilly:

pm tropheus, brucki or south coast nelly.. a lot of knowledgable people but those are the ones who comes to mind.

Alright. I'm new here but i also thought of Brucki. Seems to be the name that constantly pops up when it comes to snakeheads. Thanks c:

Hi there to Singapore,

what exactly do you wann know ?
There are various dwarf channa, buit some have special temperature needs that are difficult to handle in a warm hot city like Singapore.
I think yozu should go for gachua/limbata or orientalis which are both tropical, and limbata are native to Thailand, so not far away from your area.
Another tropical dwarf is bankanensis from indonesia, buit this species needs blackwater. Melasoma ar blackwater chaynna, too. But get slightly bigger than the "normal" dwarfs

I know the dwarves are considered snakeheads that reach an average maximum of 10" and less but i wouldn't mind something that's slightly bigger say, 12"? I like big predatory fish, but not on the scale of the micropeltes. I'm actually looking for Channa sp. Five-stripes at the moment cos' i want to breed them but lfs don't seem to be selling them.

You identified the 2 baby striatas i have right now and they're about 4" at the moment. Will probably have to release them into a pond at a nearby park or give them away when they get too big for my 20g tank. What would you say are the most common and hassle free of the dwarves to keep?(if there even is such a thing as "easy" when keeping snakeheads).

Thanks c:

snakeheads rule, no matter what size, i only know gachua, are on about colour forms because there is 1 gentleman that says about many colour forms in the gachua community

huhu~~ can go 4 channa gachua~
mine (suspected as c.gachua)~now still d same saiz after omost 1 month~ but extremely active + aggressive~ i love d feeding time, watching it jumping out of d water btting my fingers~~~ FUN..!!!

i'm nt sure bout SG, but in Malaysia, it's hard 2 find dwarf Channa in LFS.... not many knows about d beauty of this fish.
