Dwarves and discus in the same tank?

I've seen people breed colonies of apistos in the same tanks as spawning pairs of angels (they pull the eggs/fry), but what about discus? Would it be possible/viable to breed discus in the same tank as a colony of some sort of dwarf cichlid (rams or apistos), or are the requirements of the discus too specific?

Most folks I know do not breed discus in the main display tank, they isolate the pair they want to breed in a designed breeding/rearing tank as you do not pull eggs from parents with discus.

Agree the fry will need the parents to feed off on the slime coat from what I've read about the Discus.
