So here the story

picked up 5 young German Blue Rams Thursday night. Saturday night I noticed spots on them. Was thinking maybe it was the lights reflecting off of them. Sunday those white spots became way more, did some research and discovered it was Ich. Also 1 of my GBRs I found dead in the morning. As I researched how to deal with Ich, I turned my heat from 84 to 86.
ordered Ich X and will get it tomorrow in the mail. Just got home tonigh to another dead GBR.

what’s going on !?!? I did turn water back down to 84, thinking maybe I was adding more stress. I read that GBRs thrive in 84-86 degree water.
Water parameters are great, cycled my tank for 3-4 months.
I did a 50% water change the morning I picked up the fish.

Ammonia - 0
Nitrites - 0
Nitrates - 20-30
PH - 7.6 since day one of cycle process.

please help

Welcome to MFK
Yes Ich for sure. It's possible that the Rams were infected when you purchased them.

No meds yet, they are arriving tomorrow. I just did a 50% water change to lower nitrates. Just to make sure they aren’t bothering them.
meds are coming tomorrow. You’re saying to turn the heat down when I start using Ich X ?

You got rock salt?

Is there not an LFS by you with meds/salt?

I keep rock/Epson on hand... maybe stock up

Yes. Heat lets the ich cycle faster. More free swimming ich to infect ur fish w/o meds or salt.

I have aquarium salt, just nothing for Ich. I used salt last night, that was it. Plants took a beating.
nothing worse than losing 2 fish though.
how often do I use the aquarium salt ?

Dose one time for a concentration of 3%. 3 tsp per g. Replace the salt with every water change. Keep the salt in the tank for 7-10 days after the last spot has disappeared. Would choose either meds or salt. Not both. Also make sure u have a powerhead or good flow with high temps.
