Basically i just picked up 2 baby Oscars. When i got them home i noticed 1 had a few tiny tiny white spots of what looks like to be ich. So ive never have fish with ich before but i cranked the heat to 85 86 because i know or think that thats when ich starts to die

A froend of mine said use e.m erythromycin. So will this help? And no i dont have a quarantine tank so thats not an option right now

Erythromycin won’t treat ich as it’s not a bacteria.

Can do add salt at a 1tsp per gallon x3 (6hrs apart) and keep temps 86 for about 3 weeks and it should go away.

Sorry add the salt at 1 tsp pergallong three times. 6 hrs apart from each other. Allows the fish to get used to adding the salt instead of all at once. Add a powerhead while the temps are high. Keep like this for 3 weeks.

Adjust for the water changes and add the amount of salt taken out.

So i add add 70 tsp of salt 3 times every 6 hours the first time. Then do my 40% water changes once a week like normal and just add that amount of salt in?

Just making sure i dont need ro add salt every 6 hours for 3 weeks straight

So now just replace the salt for the 28g of water removed since u took out 40% during the water change. That’s 84 tsp of salt.

If ur doing let’s 50% water change on a 100g tank that means uve replaced the 50g with dechlorianted water w/o any salt. So now add 50g worth of slat back to the tank.

If u’ve added 1 tsp per gallon x 3 that’s about 3 tsp per gallon. This keep the salt concentration at 3%. So add that amount to the 50g removed. So 150 tsp. I hope that make sense.

If it doesn’t then leave as is and get some seachem paragurd or Korda ich treatment.

Also post ur water parameters.
