i got mine a week ago and put it in my 135 first thing i learned was that i need more than 300 watts for the tank so that aside... here's the other problem i'm having no matter where i set it, it is ALWAYS 1.5 degrees below the set point. is there something wrong with this heater? is anyone eles having these kind of problems? let me know what you think of the "E" line of heaters from Fluval.

i bought 2 submersible heaters from ebay and they are both 2 degrees off but i just adjust for it and they work fine...i would just do the same if i were you

short answer is yes they suck.
loved mine during the summer till winter came.
get a ebo jaeger 300w or even a 250 and itll do just fine for half the price just no more fancy digital read out

Most heaters have a fault tolerance, can probably find it on the box or in the manual. Usually +/- 1 or 2 degrees, but sometimes up to +/- 5 degrees. Generally the wider the tolerance range, the cheaper the components inside of it. Like the company got their parts out of a bargain bin instead of paying a little extra for consistency.

I had 2 in my 125 and they kept the temp at 81 very well, however I couldn't shake the LF error. At the end I placed the heaters within an inch of the returns from my 405s with the returns pointed at the heater and I'd still get LF a couple of times a day. Much happier with my hydor eth's

Ok verdict is in... This heater is junk, at least the one i got. I got up the yesterday and noticed the display was flashing blue. It was down to 77 set point was 82. It was dark in room and i noticed the heater element was not glowing. I sat there and watched it as i was getting ready for work. it would start to glow and glow for a few minutes and then shut off. I thought maybe the thermostat was way off now so i cranked it up and it did the same thing. 77 that was it and it was 67 in the house. This thing is going back and i would not recomend them to anyone. I was going to trade it in and try another one but after i ran down and grabed a ViaAqua 300 to get me through the night, we had a COLD night on the way, and when i got up this morning my houes was 60 and the tank was sitting at a nice toasty 80 my fluval would never even come close to that... E300 not worth the money too bad it was a cool lookin heater.
