In The Jungle
So I got a stand for my 75 which was sitting on the floor and set it up last night. Got back home this morning and noticed it was off center by over 1/4inch front to back and bit off left to right.

My paranoid self decides that this needs immediate correcting and lift a corner of the tank to have my gf wedge something under. Worked great.... until I see my front seals have turned white.

Why me? I'm so pissed I want to just sell the entire stock in my 75 and kick the tank:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead: holds water but I feel its going to give out at some point....

tanks dont need to be level... they need to be FLAT(on the stand)... you should be ok w/ your set-up... dont panic..:) those seals should hold OK ,,,if you get nervous, save some money and invest in a new tank that will fit your stand...aqueon has a couple of sales every year..

In addition to being flat, tanks also need to be level. Else wise you put uneven pressure on the glass, stressing the seals.

I humbly dis agree I HAVE several tanks that arent level (but flat)...zero problems...the level tank myth ... as far as I can tell is just that .... and this comes from talking to aquarists MUCH smarter than myself..

yep ... movement w/ afull tank will do that ... BUT you should be ok ,IF a seal fails it will prob . b e a small leak not a total failure, seeing that it is a small tank(nobody can lift a big tank while full). still might want to invest in a new tank come dollar per gallon sale at petco... in re reading post ,you really lifted one side of a 700 pound tank(full) by yourself? ,strong fishkeeper...:)

If it holds ill stomach it for now. Just don't want to mop up all that water so the things gotta go at some point. And yes I lifted the corner of a full 75gallon "get errrr done". Lol

Well first off, hoping this is not something worse. I don't wish tank problems on anyone.

Generally, the tank is supposed to be flat and level. Technically, if the tank is flush to the stand and the stand is level, but the floor has a very slight slope, you can get away with things. The larger the tank or the larger the slope, the more unlikely that is.

The stand can be shimmed at it's base if that is what is needed (so you level the floor to the stand, not the stand to the tank). Wedging under the tank is incorrect because it creates uneven stress on the tank itself which is how seals can fail.

No matter how long it sits there, the seals are under extra stress and have increased likelihood of failing. Failure could be slow (leaking) or catastrophic. Me...I'd undo what was done, shim the stand at it's base and hope for the best.

I'd probably drain some water....25-35 gallons before correcting it.
