Does anyone have experience with the 2?I don't want the typical community fish in most planted tanks and I have quite a few various geophagus that I am thinking of putting in it but i do not want them to uproot all my plants. So anyone with that combo or has had it in the past....did it or does it work out?

i dont think its going to work... earth eaters tend to eat/sift the sand/ gravel

they do it non stop but that wouldn't necessarily uproot the plants if the substrate is thick enough so that is what I am wondering/contemplating

its not impossible. make sure the plants have a good root system first. i've had my geos with a large sword that had a extensive root system under the sand. my gymnos aren't too bad with rooted plants either

:iagree:

yup thats the plan.Right now all my geos are under 3" or so and I dont think they could do much harm.I figure in the long run as they grow the plants will grow and hopefully it all goes well.I guess I'll see in the long run.

I have a planted tank and a bichir. Everything I read said she would most likely uproot live plants, but she loves them and I haven't had a problem. Hopefully your earth-eaters will be as well-behaved as my bichir lol.
I also agree with well-established root system. I think that is part of the reason my bichir didn't have a chance to uproot everything. Good luck!
