earth eaters ?

I have been wanting to keep eartheaters for some time but lack of space for an appropriate sized tank has kept me away.
I final (hopefully) should have room shortly.
Can I keep Satanoperca jurupari, Geophagus altifrons and Gymnogeophagus gymnogenys
in the same tank?
im sure it depends on size of tank, so i guess what would be the minimum for all 3 species or if only 2 would work which two and tank size.

Leave the Gymnogeophagus out. Minimum of four, but in my opinion, six.

cool thanks, so 125g or bigger would work.
can i get away with keeping apistos with them?

cacatuoides and agassizii perhaps, I wouldn't try it with any of the more sensitive species.

125g with what size footprint? I wouldn't recommend keeping Satanoperca or G. altifrons in anything smaller than a 6x18 base.

125g would be 72" x 18" x 21" at least thats what the website indicated as to size.
that would be the smallest size i would consider. more than likely I will be doing a DIY plywood tank.

My LFS has G. Surinamensis about 2-3" at a reasonable price (for me) $10 each. The only problem is that currently I only have a 30 gallon up and running. Is this ok for about 2-3 months before they go into a bigger home. or should I pass and hope I can get them another time.

I'd wait. There are always unforesseable complications that might make your tank tank longer to setup. Always better to get fish once you have the space for them. Btw the geos labeled surninamensis are most likely altifrons, abalios, or dicrozoster. If you want to read why here is an article.
