that's right. one of my geophagus somethingorotherwhoknows is rolling over and over and over and over. he was doing this when i brought him home, in the bag, but i figured his equilibrium was just messed up from the car ride. so it's a few days later, and now he looks like he can't get any air, too.

i should also mention that between the day i got him home and this morning he was asymptomatic.

also i have confirmed for certain that this is a geophagus abalios. my other 3 are really healthy, fins up, colorful, looking great. this guy is boned. my water is 78F, 0ppm Ammonia, 0ppm Nitrite, 5ppm Nitrate, weekly water changes. ph is around 7.2.

The only fish I ever had like that didn't last a day.

I actually have a geo struggling right now. He has been ailing for a few weeks and this morning I found him belly up but alive. He's in a hospital tank and sort of getting pitched around by the current from the filter, but he cares enough to keep trying and definitely still avoids the net like the plague. I wonder if there's any hope for either of our Geos.

When I read eartheater I instantly assumed it was a satanoperca daemon not a g. abalios. Daemon can suffer from bloat easily through poor diet (hight fat/protien not enough veggie content). What are you feeding and how often? My LFS has told me the bloat can lead to swim bladder problems and the barrel rolls. Just an idea as I keep a school of abalios and have never experienced this. What size are they? Wild caught?

I've read a bit about a wobbly disease that you can treat with sulfa or erythromycin. Sounds kind of dead on what you've got.

My own guy is more likely to respond to Maracyn I/II if anything. I fed him split peas tonight in case it's just constipation. He's completely upside down unless I go near him. I worry it's not something I can cure though, but instead the result of getting picked on a lot. Your sounds more curable than mine.

well, i feed them a variety of different foods. including fresh veggies. i've had the guys just for 4days now, so i'm wondering if its from the store's feeding. anyway i use omega one and only omega one. veggie flakes/super color flakes daily. fresh blanched zuccini and peas a couple times a week. sinking spirulina pellets, algae wafers, regularly. as treats, occaisonally i give them blood worms, brine shrimp, daphnea, tubifex worms (freeze dried, once a month maximum), and i the occaisonal shrimp pellet. they are quite small, MAYBE at 2 inches.

and sadly, my little geo took a leap into the fifth dimension today at around 4. obviously, i mean he's dead. i choose to believe his energy goes to another dimension.

but i still want to know what it is that happened?

he's gone off to join the cichlid air force

well, i've got another geo. abalios doing barrel rolls like a goddamn maniac, AND, there's ich in the tank now. so, i wonder if the two are connected somehow? i'm just going to use heat and salt and supplement with ich attack! so, could this have been the culprit, then?
