i have a 36 gal bowfront w/ community fish, id like to change over to eartheaters. i like the orange head talopos (sp?). does anyone else have recomndations on earth eaters? would another type work better? how many should i get? dont they live in little groups? tankmates? i have sand already, which i know they like, and plenty of plants, over filtered tank.

I don't know much about Geo's, but i believe that 36 gallons is too small for many if not all the species. But i may be wrong.

i know ive been reading about them while waiting for replies, i may hvae to wait for geos...
anyone else have a opinion?

As far as I know, all but one species of geo gets large. I have a geophagus steindachneri and they only get to about six inches. He haa a lot of personality, and I love him.Hope this helped.

I just got tapijos and they look gorgeous except don't mix with aggressive fish. My festae half their size killed one :( didn't even last a day :'(

A 36 gal would probably work for quartet of Gymnogeophagus or those from the red hump group.
Gymnogeo Paso pache, below stays small, 4" or so, and is quite beautiful

As is Gymno yerbalito

There are plenty of others available, and you wouldn't need a heater
