I'm looking to stock a 75 gal after I'm done sealing it. I'm leaning towards geo red head tapajos, but would be open to others within the same family or size. It seems like everyone and their mom have red head tapajos- but who can blame them, they grow into such beautiful fish.

So what eartheaters can adequately live in this tank?
How many can I successfully keep?
Any possible smaller tankmates?- or am I pushing it with this volume?
(I have 1 female rotkiel sev that I can house in it as well- if possible).

BTW the footprint is 48 1/2 x 18 1/2 x 21 3/8.

The setup pretty much involves the tank, magnum 350, marineland penguin 350, and might setup a small sump. I've bought 50lbs of pfs and have plenty of driftwood waiting in submersion. My lighting will be a standard dual fluorescent fixture. I'm in no rush in getting into plants.

Any feedback would be great. Thanks.

I just got some Gymno Balzani from Ken that I am growing out for my new 75g.

I have the Australoheros Oblongum pair in there already to go with them as well as numerous tetras and cories.

So what eartheaters can adequately live in this tank? Altifrons would be pushing the limit since they tend to grow to 10"+

How many can I successfully keep? Depends on which Eartheater. Some stay small(5-6") and others larger like Altifrons

Any possible smaller tankmates?- or am I pushing it with this volume? I'm more of a species only tank, especially a 75. Though a few dithers(like tetras) wouldn't hurt.

Thanks for the replies. I'm thinking of starting off with 6 Red head Tapajos and 6 Pindare. I've read they stay relatively small in aquaria so I'll raise them and eventually ween the stock out. These fish also seem to be the most readily available to my location and at the time.

We'll see. A part of me wants to try out gymnos...

You can get that amount now, providing they are small, and grow them out, but when they get bigger, you will need to thin them out a bit.
