Do I have to worry much about earthquakes affecting my aquariums? There was the one nearby last night, and it didn't seem to do anything. My bird freaked out though.

When the one hit Va. a while back (Im in NC) the dogs went ape but the fish didn't seem to care. I wondered if the fish are simply used to the vibrations coming from us moving around and had gotten desensitized to vibrations.

No, your fish wont be affected because in the water its a very faint vibration.
But if the quake is strong enough it could break your tank and or your equipment.
it might also stress your fish out and it would be make sense for them to jump out.

p.s some fish might be more sensitive to fibrations then others for example.

as long as your tank stand wont tip over. if you can move your stand full of water it might

Started in central Oklahoma, felt it pretty good in the part of the state where I'm at. Was running around to double check my tanks after it happened - all thankfully was ok! Whew, expect the tornadoes but an earthquake was a bit weird.
