Alright i heard that earthworms should only be fed sparingly in some threads while others claim that they are nutritionally almost as good as pellets. So which is it?

Feeding Earthworms save a lot of money when I feed 4 days of worms and 3 of pellets to my TSN and RTCxTSN weekly. (Bag of massivore lasts alot longer)

Worms also make much less of a mess as they can sit in the tank all nite and not affect the water quality.

One thing you have to realize is that your fish still needs varied diet despite the frequency of earthworms given to them. Earthworms are loaded with too much proteins and fats. If that is all you feed your fish, they become prone to constipation and bloating. You need to balance their diet.

They get massivore, beefheart, smelt, and market shrimp. I feed them twice a day.

first feeding they get either massivore or earthworms
2nd feeding they get market shrimp, beefheart, or smelt.
(whichever I feel like giving them)

The massivore just costs alot as a staple, usually run out of a bag in like 2 week

Earth worms are great -far better than dried food.
Feed as many different wet foods as you can.
If the fish will take pellets then include them as a fall back - but i am always amazed how many on this site feed massivore which in my opinion is massively over priced (and most of my fish wont touch them exept small stuff like clown loaches) you would be better off with jmc.

My fish all eat earth worms, meal worms and wax worms. I feed them June bugs, grass hoppers and the occasional slug. I feed HBH African Attack and its like they put crack in it and the fish go freakin crazy for it!!!!! I dont know how or why fish like what they like but earth worms are like 55%protein and my fish love them....point, feed what they love, in moderation and try to diversify.:grinyes:

Earth worms are top fish food. Just don't buy the ones from bait shops sold as tiger worms (they have pale rings around body), as they are a dung worm and are fed on manure. Straight earth worms, rinsed and chopped if your fish are smaller or the worms are huge, one of the best live foods around. I swear you can see my fish smile after a feed of earth worms. Allways feed as varied a diet as possable, but worms are a great inclusion.

no wet food has too much protein for a predator and the fat issue i think you may be confusing with maggots.
